Mid Glamorgan Area was formed in 1974 when there was a significant change in County Council boundaries.  Previously it had been part of East Glamorgan Scout County. The Area consists of four Districts, Bridgend, RCT ( Rhondda Cynon Taf), Merthyr and CRAI (Caerphilly, Rhymney and Islwyn).  Each District is made up of a number of Scout Groups offering scouting activities to young people from the ages of 6 years to 18 years of age.  There is also the facility for the Area to cater for young adults from 18 to 25 years of age.  Scouting has helped adult volunteers improve their physical skills, including the improved ability to cope with outdoor conditions.  Within the Area are many adult volunteers who give whatever amount of time they have, bringing the enjoyment of scouting to young people.  A skilled training team delivers the required learning that enables the adults to present fun and educational programmes, week in and week out.  Non uniformed volunteers work tirelessly in the background, at both District and Area level, ensuring that the resources to enable this delivery of good scouting are available. Scouting in Mid Glamorgan makes a huge difference both to the lives of our members and across the wider community.  It helps young people improve key skills including social skills, leadership ability, teamwork ability and confidence. Search for your local group to find out what is happening and how you can become part of the adventure.
